As we have done each day, we wake at 6am to the crazy wonderful sounds of Los Medranos, this idyllic rural community on the south of Nicaragua. The evenings and nights have been cool and have forced us to snuggle under blankets and listen to the sounds of God's creation 1000s of kms away from home. Not being a morning person has been less of a challenge this trip because the early morning devos have been amazing. Jason took the lead on the devos this trip and has led us well and into deep and meaningful discussions and considerations.
This morning it was Psalm 46:10 - Be still and know that I am God. Each of us was asked to wander away and find a quiet place to simply be with God. O yeah. I definitely need more of that. Once again I stand amazed at the youth and leaders on this adventure as they dig in deep and don't avoid the tough stuff.
Today is our last kick at the can so to speak. This is the last day we will work on the property wall, the last day we will work on the little church build and the last day each of us will be focused on tasks here. Kind of a bittersweet day for some. None of the work will be finished. That was never the plan.
The work has been WELL started and will be completed by the Nicaraguans we leave behind. They have the materials to finish the work and it will be finished. For us, this has been a moment in time, where we have had the privilege to breathe Nica air and meet Nica people and serve with them shoulder to shoulder.
As we turn to face home I would ask a few things of you. You have been faithful in praying for your specific team member and for the team. Please do not stop praying as we return. i would ask each of you for a commitment of at least a month to continue to pray specifically for the team member(s) you sent, as they begin their adventure in Canada and discover God and serve Him there. Perhaps as parents and supporters you might want to join these young and tired Kingdom Walkers as they engage with another culture - the culture of Canada.
Consider the following:
As a family, get up at 6am (or the time of your choosing) and once awake spend a family time together doingyour morning devo - together. perhaps invite your neighbours to join you and discover what God has to say about your day together. I believe he has plans for us in KW and in Canada as we become a post-Christian culture.
The intention was never to be focused solely on Nicaragua. The intention, and I believe this is Jesus' intention, was to be focused on living a Kingdom life in our homes, our communities and our cities - wherever we are.
Are you ready to be challenged, are you ready to step out of your zones and follow the King in new ways (apparently his mercies are new every day) It is a narrow, vibrant, bright and salty path and your youth and these leaders are primed to be incarnational, to be Kingdom walkers, to be humble servants and warriors for the King - How about you?
We are His church, we are His people. He is our Lord. Will we follow Him in real practical life changing ways? I pray that we have the intestinal fortitude to. I pray it with all my heart.
The young warriors will be returning shortly. Join them. They have stories to tell and new ways to share with you...be ready.
