The beauty of Nicaragua
We leave this beauty behind but not all of it. Some of it we will carry forever in our hearts.

Visit to a safe house for prostitutes

Hola amigos,
While I am here with the team, I have taken a few side trips with the director to investigate possible partnerships and ministry opportunities that seem to be coming our way here in Nicaragua for 3Fold.
Yesterday we visited a safe house for current and former prostitutes from Managua. Apparently, prostitution is legal in Nicaragua if you are 18 or over. It is illegal to sell someone else and illegal if you are under 18. The safe house we visited is a ministry that does 2 things - rescues underage girls who are being trafficed and provides a longer term place for those who wish to leave the lifestyle.
It was a tough place for me to visit and was hard on my heart especially to consider 6 and 8 year olds being sold into this type of degredation. I really struggle with this awful reality.

I truly hope and pray that God would work through us here at 3Fold Nicaragua to be part of the solution for some of these women. Laura, the Texas woman who gave us a tour and shared with us, showed us the jewelry the women in residence make to fundraise for the house. On the return to the centre we stopped at a property that we are considering for a long term safe house. The house is presently owned by an American who would like to donate it to someone to do ministry. Please pray for us as we discern next steps.

This little boy is the son of one of the women in the programme...
Pete
