Hola. it's Maddie and Adrienne,
We are having an amazing time here! Day 1 is done and we are tired and pink cheeked. Today was full of sun, running, stumbling over Spanish and chasing after kids. This morning we led a devotional with Samantha for the group and thought we would share it on the blog. The verse we based our devo on was 1 Timothy 4:12-16. It starts, "don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
We think that this a verse that teens should take to heart. It's such a cliche that we are the leaders of today but it's so true, we literally are the next generation to battle the world and all it's issues. And how are we going to do that?
1 Timothy goes on to say, Do not neglect your gift..." each one of us God chose to come to Nicaragua for whatever reason. But we are commanded to not only be here but use our talents and spiritual gifts for God. We hope that we both can use our gifts and encourage the team to have lots of fun but to remember and recognize their spiritual gifts too.
Another night of sleep ahead of us, followed by waking up to geckos, roosters, dogs barking, birds and insects that we didn't even know existed. Keep praying for us.
